Accountant (part-time contractor)

We're a dynamic and forward-thinking company composed of talented individuals from diverse backgrounds, and we're seeking a detail-oriented Part-Time Accountant to support our finance operations.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with financial data, maintaining accurate records, and supporting a growing organization with reliable accounting practices.

As a Part-Time Accountant at Canopy, you will support the day-to-day accounting operations and help maintain accurate financial records. You will work closely with the finance team to ensure transactions are properly recorded, reconciled, and organized.

Here are some of the responsibilities you'll tackle:

Accounts Payable

  • Enter and manage vendor billsEnsure invoices are properly coded and recorded
  • Maintain organized vendor and payment records

Cash Reconciliation

  • Perform cash reconciliations in QuickBooks Online
  • Ensure financial transactions are accurately reflected and balanced

Accounting Records & Data Entry

  • Maintain organized accounting documentation and records
  • Perform data entry and bookkeeping tasks within accounting systems

Month-End Support

  • Assist with month-end reconciliations, including cash and accounts payableSupport the finance team with reviewing and resolving discrepancies

Financial Data Support

  • Help investigate small discrepancies or irregularities in financial records
  • Use Excel (VLOOKUP, pivot tables) to support reconciliation and reporting tasks

Qualifications:

  • Experience using QuickBooks Online
  • Experience using Bill.com for accounts payable processing (required)
  • Basic understanding of accounting principles, including debit and credit concepts
  • Familiarity with financial statements, including P&L and balance sheet accounts
  • Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, or bookkeeping
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Proficiency in Excel, including VLOOKUP and pivot tables
  • Comfortable working independently in a part-time, remote environment
